11:26 am - FRIDAY!!!!!!
|
|
Friday I get to do something I never thought I'd do. I get to buy tickets to see Queen. QUEEN! Fuck yes! I probably won't sleep until after the concert, which is in March. The way things have gone in my life, I assume that I will die before the show. Screw it. I'm remaining optomistic. I'll die right after the show. If I'm really lucky I'll make it to see Billy Joel's spring tour.

12:17 pm - FANTASY FOOTBALL
|
The 3rd year of Sweet Release Fantasy Football is fast approaching. We'll be having a live draft in a yahoo chat room about a week before the season starts. If anyone is interested in joining the league, just let me know.
In other news, Jeremy and I got tickets to The White Stripes in Columbus in Sept. and I think I'm losing my mind.

Jeremy, Justin and myself will be seeing Elvis Costello and the Imposters in Cincy on May 5. It's probably not healthy to have this massive boner that long, is it?

Less than 2 days until Glengarry Glen Ross opens. I'm ready to rock. I can't say the same for everyone in the show. Of course, we're doing this show on 12 rehearsals. That's retarded. But, as always, I survive. You can't kill me! I'm the next evolution of man! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

CNN reported today that there is a new "Darth Vader" Mr. Potato Head. They showed a picture. It's as awful as you would guess. What the fuck? Vader should be crushing throats with a thought, not pulling his nose out of his ass.

8:30 pm - Hey kids.

Look who's back! Just thought I'd throw an update out there for no other reason that I'm kinda bored right now. I just got done wrapping all the gifts I purchased. Now I just have to get something for Jeff and Maria and I'll be done.
This weekend the improv troupe finished it's Holiday Joytacular. The turn out was so-so, but we invited a bunch of possible sponsors and they all showed. The sketches that Jeff, Jason D. and I wrote went over very well. I kind of forgot how funny we can be.
The gf is coming up tomorrow to exchange gifts. I hope she likes what I got her. Then again, who doesn't like a nice meat platter?
Since this will probably be my last entry of the year, it's time for Dwight's meaningless year end awards.
Best Movie- Anchorman
I could have picked Eternal Sunshine or Kill Bill Vol 2. Both would have been acceptable. But, when it comes to pure joy of my soul, few movies beat Anchorman.
Worst Movie- The Chronicles of Riddick
That's right. I watched it. I watched it and paid a horrible price.
Underrated Movie- Jersey Girl
Get off of this movie peeps. It was a fine effort.
Best Album- The Polyphonic Spree "Together We're Heavy"
I wanted to go with Shatner here, but the spree hasn't been 3 yards away from a cd player since i got it.
Best TV show- Lost
Sweet lord, I love it. I haven't watched a show like this from the beginning since DS9. Please insert geek joke here.
That's all the bullshit I have. Happy Holidays to all my friends out there. Be they in Huntington, California or the Dirty South.
PS- Possible US Queen tour in the fall. Stay tuned and hold on to your balls for they could be rocked off.

6:31 pm - Has been...might again
|
My friend Griffin mentioned the new Shatner album, "Has Been" in an earlier post. Let me expand on this album a bit. I'll admit I purchased it expecting to like it ironically. I thought I'd have a good laugh and revel in the fact that I owned a William Shatner album. I played the CD all the way through and sat there for a moment. What was this? Wait for it...Wait for it...YES. William Shatner had made a great record. A legitimately GREAT record. It's basically an autobiography. A very telling and truthful telling of his life. I know some of you are reading this, laughing, knowing what a gigantic dork I am. I'm the first to admit i'm a massive dork, but this is legit. Bless you William Shatner for being so awesome. Bless you Ben Folds for bringing out his awesomeness.

Everyone go pick up "The Delivery Man" by Elvis Costello and The Imposters. It's all that's right with the world on one little disc. If you like good old fashioned rock and roll you won't regret it. By the way, if you don't like good old fashioned rock and roll, why are you reading this? We can't be friends. Go away. You are beneath me.

I got an email concerning my Hamlet audition which stated-
Hi Dwight! I'd like for you to play FIRST PLAYER (we'll give him a name at rehearsal). Let me know what you think.
I hit reply and simply typed "No Thanks". That is as polite as I could have possibly been. You would know this to be true if you would have seen the other auditions and the hack job he did with the script. KHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNN!

1:20 pm - Hey boys and girls!
|
Maybe Murdock inspired me to actually update this thing. I mean, he's living the dream in LA, snorting blow off of the asses of various hobos, and he still finds the time. Let's see...Two days ago I watched Donnie Darko and Mulholland Drive back to back. I looked at it as a test of my sanity. Somehow I'm still able to think in a linear fashion. The biggest news of the week is the spectacular display of the Everytime continuum that has occurred. This week marks the first time, in a long while, that I've had a girlfriend. I can't believe I'm that guy that announces shit like this on LJ, but I'm excited dammit. I'm such a newb. Plus, it fits with the second part of this story. One of my best friends in this world experienced maybe the worst Everytime I've ever heard of this week. You all know him, but I'm certainly not going to write about it here. You must feel the ebb and flow of the great beast of Everytime. For every good, there is a remarkable evil that smacks you in the sack. Let us never lose sight of the fact that the great beast of Everytime is always lurking. It only waits for you to be comfortable. Then, when you least expect it, she kicks you in the gator park.
Mean ol' Bitches EVERYTIME. We live by signs. None shall be spared.
